My "cake students," Maryann and Hank Thoben,
learned to make flowers, butterflies, and leaves today.
Next week they will decorate a cake.
Stay tuned!

One of the many things I love about cake decorating is seeing an idea come to life, as with the "naming cake," below, with the stripes and polka dots. I had some ideas I wanted to include: "Mazel Tov," a jungle theme, the little girl's name (Eliana), the color purple, and a yellow bow. I made a few sketches and thought it through and finally decided on an idea. Then I started baking and creating. Cake decorating is a fun and rewarding creative experience if you love to make cakes!

Can you find these 10 items?:
1. The word "Eliana"
2. A pearl necklace
3. A mohawk
4. Board shorts
5. Bananas
6. Red toenails
7. Sunglasses
8. A scarf
9. A bow
10 A hat

An Excited Bride!

I love when I get emails like this! The email, below, is from one of my brides, who wrote to me about the edible seashells and orchids I made (from gumpaste) for her beach-themed wedding cake:

Oh my God!!! Diane, you are sooo super talented! I can't believe how PERFECT these are :) WOW!!! Words can't really describe how excited I am and so honored to have you make my cake! The shells and orchids are amazing!!!
I can't thank you enough!
