I just did this cake for an ABC news anchor.
I can't say her name but she is listed on the Internet as a "Public Figure."
She was extremely nice and this cake was for her three-year-old son.
She wanted a fun Curious George cake with the main colors in red, blue, and yellow.
See below for the work in progress...

The bottom cake was an 8" "petal" shape.             I covered it in blue fondant.

I covered the cake base with white fondant
then trimmed with a multi-colored ribbon that incorporated her color choices.
I used an embossed Happy Birthday/balloon mat for the imprinted design.

I stacked the bottom petal shape and the round 6" on the cake base. I used four dowels in the bottom cake and one dowel that ran through the center and down into the cake base.
(I had sharpened the middle dowel into a point.)

Now the real fun begins! ...
Putting the candy and fun stuff on!

Here is the Curious George that I made by hand from gum paste...he is holding a banana and reaching for another one!

And here is the final product,
a fun cake perfect for a three-year-old boy!

Live Fish / Fisherman Cake

Live Fish Cake!

Notice the LIVE FISH in the lake!

As a work in progress:

I added a shirt and rolled-up sleeves.

Next I added his fly-fishing vest. Gotta have that!!

See the live fish! I like how their swimming causes ripples in the water!
(Don't worry...after their field trip, I went back and picked them up,
fed them, and brought them safely back!)
See the live fish, above? Pretty cool, huh??!

Their family of five has a fire pit so I made a fire pit and five logs,
with roasting sticks and marshmallows. Every item is edible except the fishing pole and fishing line.

And I TOTALLY love when my cakes
get this type of reaction, below!

 EASY HOLIDAY LOG CAKE

I did an Open House at Michael's today and taught how to make this easy holiday log cake by using:

(1.) an Entenmann's pound cake from the store,
(2.) icing off the grocery store shelf, and
(3.) some simple decorating techniques taught in the Wilton Decorating Basics class at Michael's.

By the way, pictured here is Zoe Gaeta's "friend" (and my little cake decorator helper), Miss Flat Stanley, visiting from the 5th grade class in California!
